The Irish Packaging Society Event
- Commencement
30th June 2023
The Irish Packaging Society, formerly the Institute of Packaging Ireland, is affiliated with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the UK and the various UK Packaging Societies that make up the IOM3 Packaging Group.
We promote the science, technology and benefits of packaging materials and components, including the supply chain processes in which packaging is used, and disposed of, for a more circular economy.
Sustainable Packaging Event Date
The Irish Packaging Society was delighted to have Dr Eoin Cunningham; Senior Lecturer Queens University Belfast speaking on “Tapping into Agricultural Waste Streams for Sustainable material development”, and Dr Romina Pezzoli, Applied Packaging Platform lead at APT on “Reusable Packaging: Redefining Packaging Solutions” in our latest webinar on “What’s next in Sustainable Plastic’s”
Both speakers shared successes on recent projects that are helping to achieve sustainability in packaging, from valorising agri-waste into novel packaging materials through to developing system based solutions to accelerating the uptake of packaging designed for reuse.
It was really encouraging to see that many local companies on the island are already collaborating in these research projects and driving change for a more sustainable future for our sector. We are looking forward to keeping abreast of research in packaging across the island and hope to bring you more webinars in the future from our researchers
