September 15th – Universal access is a critical consideration for projects undertaking material alteration or change of use to an existing structure, and all new build projects. This topic will give an overview of key requirements to ensure that a project complies with access requirements
Lecture 4: July 2021
This topic gives an overview of Building Control, and demonstration of compliance with Building Regulations that affects the delivery of larger scale residential extensions as well as material alterations and change of use to commercial properties.
BC(A)R overview, requirements for clients and designers, overview of the roles of assigned certifier and design certifier, registration of projects with online BCMS (commencement notice and registering building for occupation)
Lecture 5: August 2021
Key considerations to ensure dwellings comply with Part B: Fire Safety of the Building Regulations. This topic will cover domestic projects only; non-domestic requirements are covered in topic 9
Overview of TGD B: Fire Safety for Dwelling Houses, review of detection systems and escape requirements, internal fire spread (linings)
