BIM using Revit, Design Print and Packaging are delighted to bring you this  Part Time Course which will run in Griffith College. The subsidised cost of this course is €375  (RRP €500).

The course will run over two Saturdays (full days from 10:00am -13:00pm & 14:00pm-17:00pm) and two Fridays (evenings from 18:30pm – 21:30pm), course dates listed below.

This course allows students to develop their skills in the use of 3D computer-aided design.

BIM is fast becoming the number one architectural computer tool with large construction companies such as BAM Construction making use of BIM software. This course will provide graduates and experienced built environment professionals with an additional skill set centred on BIM.

BIM using Revit Part Time Course

Old Leaving Cert (Pre 2017)

5 Ordinary Level D3s (subjects to include a language, English, Irish or another language) or equivalent exam taken.

New Leaving Cert

5 O6/H7 grades, to include Maths and a language (English, Irish or another language).

Skills in AutoCAD 2D, professionals with a background in Building Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, QS, Interior Design, Product Design.

Introduction to BIM (using Revit)

Introduction  This is one module from the BA in Interior Design.  It is designed to allow students to develop their skills in the use of 3D computer-aided design.  BIM is fast becoming the number one architectural computer tool with large construction companies such as BAM Construction making use of BIM software.
This course will provide graduates and experienced built environment professionals with an additional skill set centred on BIM which will allow them produce 3D models to extract 2D drawings and documentations, and light and render interiors render to industry standards.

Course Duration  2 x Fridays (6.30pm – 9.30pm) 2 x Saturdays (10.00am – 5.00pm)

Validation  Students will receive a Griffith College transcript of results.

Assessment Method

Module – Introduction to BIM  (using Revit)

Coursework- 100% (1 Assignment) Build a Revit model from the provided PDF’s and replicate the given layouts.

Examination N/A

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, the learner will be able to: 

  • Use Revit to construct basic 3D models in the built environment 
  • Use Revit software to produce 2D Documentation plans, sections, elevations
  • Use Revit software to construct basic 3D models of interiors
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods for this module include delivering theory through lectures, expert guest speakers from the industry, using examples of standards, supported by demonstrations, in class exercises and online supports on Moodle, the College VLE (Virtual Learning Environment).  Sample assignments are placed on Moodle for the learners’ information.  Learners are mentored during this module, with the emphasis on self-directed learning and independent development.
Strategies for this module are based on “Learning by doing”, learner-centred learning and structured teaching methods.
The topical lectures and tutorials are a mix between passive and participatory teaching methods and involve promotion and enhancement of self-directed learning.Progression OptionSuccessful learners can progress to the BA in Interior Design at Griffith College Dublin, where they will be exempt from the Introduction to BIM module.
