Graphic Design for print

This course is broken into three modules over 4 weeks. It is for those not currently working but looking to get back to work.

Photoshop

The aim of this module is to introduce participants to the concepts of graphic design and prepress technology and the role that they play in the print media production process. The module provides learners with an opportunity to acquire appropriate foundation knowledge in the software applications used to process work to an acquired level for output in a commercial environment.

This module is aimed at an Introduction level to Photoshop and does not assume any prior knowledge of the software. General computer literacy is advantageous to participants. On completion the learner will have a strong foundation knowledge for further development of their skillset.

Illustrator

The aim of this module is to introduce participants to the concepts of graphic design and prepress technology and the role that they play in the print media production process. The module provides learners with an opportunity to acquire appropriate foundation knowledge in the software applications used to process work to an acquired level for output in a commercial environment.

This module is aimed at an Introduction level to Illustrator and does not assume any prior knowledge of the software. General computer literacy is advantageous to participants. On completion the learner will have a strong foundation knowledge for further development of their skillset.

InDesign

The aim of this module is to introduce participants to the concepts of graphic design and prepress technology and the role that they play in the print media production process. The module provides learners with an opportunity to acquire appropriate foundation knowledge in the software applications used to process work to an acquired level for output in a commercial environment.

This module is aimed at an Introduction level to InDesign and does not assume any prior knowledge of the software. General computer literacy is advantageous to participants. The module will culminate with the participants assisting with the output of Printing plates for commercial production of their magazine design. On completion the learner will have a foundation knowledge of design for print and the associated technologies for output in a commercial environment.
